Joseph Wei
President
Background
Joseph, the founder of SJW Consulting, is recognized as a technology industry expert with extensive global experience working in senior executive positions for HP, NEC, SGI and Inventec. His P&L responsibilities span from Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
Joseph is a visionary executive who has championed and commercialized new technologies to help launch startups and new ventures in Global 100 companies. He started focusing on Near Field Communication (NFC) technology in late 2009 through his consulting work on smartphones and tablets. He joined Wong's International Corp. in early 2010 to focus on applications and partnership development for the iCarte NFC reader for the iPhone developed by Wong's subsidiary, Wireless Dynamics. Joseph quickly established himself as an leader and a champion for NFC through his speaking engagements in many industry events and his partnerships work with major NFC eco-system vendors including the largest global credit card companies, Managed Network Operators, commercial banks, mobile advertising companies as well as many startup application developers.
Previously, Joseph led a startup, Amphus, in the development and introduction of industry’s first server management and virtualization software for blade servers.
Joseph also spearheaded SGI’s Open Source Linux strategy in 1999 that accelerated Linux applications in the enterprises and led to the quick market adoption of Linux by HP, IBM, Dell, Oracle, and many other enterprise vendors.
Joseph drove the strategy in unifying NEC’s global server product lines behind Intel’s x86 CPUs resulted in NEC reaching the number five market share position for x86-based servers in less than four years.
Joseph has a solid experience in global operation efficiency and has established various OEM/outsourcing partnerships with Intel, Wistron and Tatung.
Joseph also served on the advisory board for OSA Technologies Inc, which was acquired by Avocent for $100M in 2005. He currently serves as advisor to several startup companies.
